Shading models from TiltBrush

Hi helpful peeps.

I’m experimenting with importing .fbx files from TiltBrush. In the linked Blender file you will see two ribbons. The one on the right was created in blender and my image wraps along the length of it. In the one on the left, imported from TiltBrush, the image appears in sections and the alpha is not working. They have the same material (as far as I can tell).

What have I done wrong? How can I make the one on the left look like the one on the right?

Noob so go easy on me;)

EDIT - I have attached the files instead of sharing them via OneDrive

Many thanks!!!
Lee

I can not access your file but to me it looks like the tilt brush mesh consists of a bunch of small planes that make up the object.

Perhaps Tilt brush does some trickery to keep the performance in VR good. Perhaps it creates a bunch of instanced planes and then simply rotates them in realtime to face the camera or something like that in order to make it look like a connected mesh.
