Shadows passing opaque materials

Hello,

I have recently started playing with Blender and as soon as i tried to do something without tutorial i ran into problems.

I tried making stvoe with some interior. But when i render, the thing (sorry, i dont know all that many english words) that is holding pots and buttons on the panel are trowing nasty shadows into my interior even though it is opaque. I have probably made some fundamental mistake.

Here is the blend file:

I thinks it’s just the shadow settings on the lights.

You have ‘Buffer Shadow’ on all three. Try ‘Ray Shadow’. It will work a lot better.

(I don’t know how the ‘Buffer Shadow’ method works, but it IS somewhat inaccurate).

Thank you.

By the way, i’m sorry for opening this thread twice. I have ready moderators have to aprove it since i am new user. However, when i opened the first thread there was a quick notification, which i wasnt able to read and therefore tought there was an error. I have then waited for a day to see if i will be able to find my thread anywhere, but i wasnt, so i tried again, just to see my 1st thread after made another one. I then havent found any way to cancle pending thread.

Sorry again for spamming.

EDIT: That worked well but gave really strong shadows. I then tried rendering with AO on and got the artifacts again. It is basically same result as on the picture in 1st post, just a little softer.

Hi.

Looks OK to me? (Three lights to ‘Raytrace’ and AO enabled in ‘World Settings’)

Maybe post your results?

Ah, before trying AO my lights settings went back to buffer (since i reopened old file). I feel lame now

Thanks again.

No problem. Glad you’re up and running.
