Shadows with emitting objects?

Hi all,

I have a simple questions that has been on my mind for a few days now: is it true that an emitting object can NEVER make a cast-shadow behind an other object? And I mean by just doing a normal rendering, so not by Radiosity-Collect Mesh-Go etc.

No matter how high I set the emitting-value, I always see only the shadow on the backside of the other radiated objects (I mean on the objects itself) and NEVER a shadow BEHIND these object on the floor (or whatever is behind those objects). Or am I missing some buttons???

Thanks for the answers.

The ‘emit’ value affects the material of the object, not the light. If you want that object to emit light, put a lamp inside it. Don’t forget to disable ‘Shadbuf’ for that object, otherwise it will block the light.
