Shape Transforming

Ok, I’m pretty good at blender, just not at animating things. I want to know how to make the human I made transform into the demon I made. Help would be appreciated. Please tell me how or tell me where I can find out how.

Morphing between 2 objects with the exact same number of vertices is pretty simple. Heck I wrote one myself to animate between obj keyframes in my engine. But to morph two totally different 3d objects…i get a headache just trying to imagine the complexities. You would have to set reference points, verts would have to merge and split, faces would flip and twist, …ow my head. I hope someone replies and proves me wrong, but I dont think this is possible yet. But, my knowledge of 3D apps pretty much begins and ends with Blender. Maybe there are other apps that have been doing this for years? I would be very interested in seeing it done.
I have seen this done in 2d image apps, and then maybe you could blend it into your animation in the sequence editor or somthing.
Shape keys are close to what you are wanting. But they work on the same mesh only. So you could create a shape key for your human model, rearranging it to look like the demon, then morph between the two keys.
Sorry I dont have a better answer, but I can’t stand seeing a big zero in the reply field
