Shiney Metal

Im new here and i was just wondering how to make a blade with a shiney metal finish. Ive created the blade and i just want to know, how do i make the blade have the polished affect do I need to add a certain texture to it or is there some buttons in blender which i have to play with? I was using the mirrior controls before but it just made my blade turn blue (Im guessing it’s just mirrored off my scene).

The answer lies in your question.
Take something metal and take a good look at it, what is it you see?
Most likely the enviorment you’re in and highlights of the lighting that surrounds you.
In CG there are multiple solutions to mimic that, but yes texture mapping in a part of the documentation you need to read.
