Hello! I’ve been using IBLs almost exclusively in most of my CG videos for the last year or so. I know there are a lot of tutorials out there about how to use HDRIs in Blender, but I notice that much of the time, not much attention is paid to the quality of the HDRI itself. IBLs that are built from just 5 or 3 (or even just 1!) exposures are not going to give realistic results without a lot of tweaking.
Here, I wanted to show how you can easily shoot your own IBLs, both quickly and cheaply. You may already have all the supplies needed!
I’ve also uploaded the IBLs used in the video to Blend Swap, so you can try them out yourself (including both of the “double chrome ball” files). Download them here: http://www.blendswap.com/blends/view/78093
