Hi guys, help me, please! How much would you ask for this short animation with postprocessing and all that stuff? If you can tell how much you ask for the whole project (the idea of rings, modeling, animating) that would be even better!!! Imagine this is more polished though, this version was made in 2 days, now work giver wants to hear the price for the whole process. I’m new to 3d so any advice is really helpful!!!
Just think of what hour rate would suit you and then assume how much time the project will take.
sidenote: you should also take into calculation time of mailing/chatting with client, file preparations, rendering and basicly everything you wouldn’t have to do if you didn’t have that project.
some people also charge extra for the lincese, but if you don’t work for super big corporations that could show your work to millions then you can ignore it
It depends heavily on your region, stadards and such. Figure out how much other artists or 3d studios charge in your area and design your price from there. But just like Jerzy said before me, make sure to include your time and your thought into the price, not just the hours worked. You’re a designer, so charge for the conceptual/intellectual part of the job, as well as the actual labour and rendering.
A super tight, polished 30 second, full HD animation of a premium product such as an engagement ring?
I wouldn’t talk about it for less than around 3000€, and I am not a pro yet by any means, still learning a lot. Just go for it. Tell them a price you feel comfortable working for. And don’t talk about your experience if you don’t have a lot. Focus on what you can do for them, and why investing in you is a good idea. Don’t tell them you’re new, because people like taking advantage of newcomers.
Be confident and calm. Don’t be desperate, and don’t be afraid to say no if the price is not right.
Make sure they know that you have your standards, just as they have their standards when it comes to the price and quality of their engagement rings. Your values are aligned. Just like they would be disrespected if someone asked them for a 100$ ring, you aswell should not take this job for a cheap price.
Lastly, most importantly, put your work where your mouth is. Do not promise them anything you know you aren’t capable of. Or if you do, you have to be sure you will be able to hire someone who does.
Make sure your work, your animation looks and feels as premium as the product you are representing. The quality of the modeling and the animation has to match the product, or it has to be better.
If you realise your quality and what you can do, then selling yourself and your services becomes a much easier task. So understand yourself and have confidence in your self.
Happy negotiating, I hope you get the job and get paid well :).
