I´d appreciate any comment.
Thank´s
Guilherme Lopes

A good watch. Very nice work all over! I really like the exaggerated movements of the old guy. Very very good work

That was really intresting. Really good job! It would be nice to see an article in blendernation.com about this.

Thank´s Robo, the idea was to make unpredictable moviments.

An article Arman?! Good idea, but…mmm… any one on blendernation can tell me what can I do to post it?

That was really beautiful…
And well worth watching in HD too, so thanks for that

And yeah, it should be on Blendernation (especially considering some of the tripe that gets on there!)

Thanks Saorsa! I appreciate you take the HD version, the idea is spread the short animation as much as possible. Creative Commons ; )

Well, again I don´t know what´s necessary to put on Blendernation.

Nice work, but some things did not seems right to me. First the guy moves slow and then he moves fast. It kind of broke the illusion of him being old. The story did not interest me enough to finish watching it. The skin is amazing in the detail but still looks too young.

Overall, great work!

Hello Atom. There´s an art and animation direction work in this project following the idea of balance and unbalance. The estructure is old fashion but distorted, even in characters. The old guy moves like an old man, but when he walks (a famous animator difines walking as a controled falling, just what I was trying to use) he reach a point of an unbalance and at this point he moves to react, that movement is fast to highlight the idea.

Previously I said to Robo that it´s an unpredictable movement. Fortunately you raise that question and I could explained the original Idea.

A director work is made of creative decision that can lead to results, wich inevitably, it will find positive and negative reactions. I´m explainning why it was made like that, it´s up to each viewer analise and appreciate.

Any way, thanks for the reply.

ouch! I mean, I only saw this now!! Top-notch single-person animation!

I’m sure english readers are able to understand the title from the common root in the word, but anyway:

Short, funny and overall very well-done – great texturing and lighting and subtle, economic animation.

Thanks Kuseijin! I really appreciate your comments.

Since the animation was designed in an open-source software, I’m providing some of the animation features for use under Creative Commons. The first is our grumpy professor Isaac:

The character had his rig built before ManCandy and I confess that I didn´t control Blender at the time (mmm. … I don´t control today as well, LOL). I made a point of leaving it as it was used in the animation. It does not allow instance, for example, and that made it nearly impossible to manage the project!

The character Lux already has some interesting quality, like turning on light in bones and a control from its base that allows it to balance with the base tilted in any direction (I think I will make a video of it on youtube). The rig is worth being seen.

The next character is a sensual lamp, she has the same mechanism lux, in fact, only more charming, LOL.

I hope it help some one.

ps.: Is it here the rigth place to post it?

wow! … . . …

Thanks pildanovak! It´s a short and entusiastic comment!

Did you try the models?

This is quite a project. Many parts of it are very very well done. How long did it take you to complete it?

Bad comments first:

It’s very hard, and i’ve got the same problem, to work the best as we can with graphics and in the same time to find really good ideas for stories.

The result, here, is a too, much too long movie, with a “deja vu” concept. The Pixar’s lamp has the success it desserved, but on this way, we expect some new exploration in animating object in order to touch us.

Maybe would it have been funny to make exactly the same, but old and rough, as yours, as if your goal was to show what happens to forgotten movie stars.

Moreover, the choice of music didn’t give me the wish of watching the entire movie, i had to stop before the end, too bothered by the sound and slowness of the action.

Excellent things now :

The graphic work is amazing. Camera moving, Dof, lighting, textures and shading…

Whaooo, i am more than impressed!! And jealous too!

I’m wandering how long did you work for this stuff. I’ve got a really good machine (I7) and two slower ones, but i can’t imagine less than three or four months for this. Excellent, excellent and beautiful images.

Thanks Richard. The project consumed 18 months, unfortunatly this time wasn´t whole dedicated, it´s shared with my job as audiovisual teacher and other little works.

Trapadelle, I appreciate any comments, just doesn´t agree with the “bad” classification. It´s all comments after all. The original idea was based in a parody of pixar, the name in Portuguese means graffiti in spoken language. The parallel of an excluded part of society and a model of sucesses in animation world was left behind when the story evoluted. At this momment, the premisse of an old folk been excluded from society became more important and the character was already created.

The movie isn´t about movie stars, it´s not a commedy either. The timming was design to delivery the sensation of abandonment. I´m sorry You couldn´t abble to see the hole movie, but I don´t have the ambition of been an unanimity.

About the tecnichal comment I did what I could at the momment. I think is far from Ideal, I would improve all aspects of the prodution, from modelling to post production.

See Trapedelle, there´s no bad or good comments ; )
