Is there a way to render an object with the wires showing? If yes, how do I do that?

in the materials tab there is a wire button

You can also render images and animation exactly as it looks in the viewport, with the buttons furthest to the right in the 3d view menu bar (with the layer buttons, snap buttons etc).
bear in mind though that this method is only a capture of the OpenGL view, so you wont get shadows, raytracing, and all the other things that happen when you do a full render…just sayin
