i tried to sculpt my first chara. About the sculpt. i wanted his face to not be perfectly symmetrical and i turned off axis symmetry at points. the body should be symmetric however i tried to change the wrists with the silhouette grab. Also i did a boolean to combine head and body which was dumb and resulted in holes on the neck. I’m trying to use the multires and shrinkwrap mod to get back my detail from the sculpt. It’s kind of messed up. as you can see the edges stretch like crazy when i project the shrinkwrap, but when i use tangent normal, it’s not precise. How can i fix this? https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/6vr9bvgwzc52sc7d3556y/Bildschirmaufnahme-2026-07-29-154335.mp4?rlkey=m3ctnfjx3fxj86iddq6toz75n&st=kibdqkn9&dl=0 here is also a link to a screenrecord
thanks for the try but, this is kinda basic. Of couse i applied my scale and checked normals. I found some loose verts (probably from f2 tool use) and some poles as a result from snapped verts while loopcutting. it saddly has not change a thing and i’m afraid i have to partially redo retopo.
The closer the retopo is to the surface, the better shrinkwrap works.
In Edit Mode, you can disable “on cage” option in the modifier to see the mesh before and after the shrinkwrap.
Enable snap mode with project to faces settings.
Place vertices onto target surface manually with snap.
there are definitely verts/edges that seem to fold into another when i enable the shrikwrap. i guess that could be it. do you think this is not close enough and the streches i see with the multires are folded areas?
Errr… yeah, this is pretty far from target surface Especially the legs.
Shrinkwrap can’t perform miracles - it works best with some manual editing. Just place the points on surface by hand and take advantage of mirror modifier.
I am not sure if this is a Retopology trick issue or something else.
The shape shown in the image looks like a topology trick issue.
If the method involves using Shrinkwarp after Retopology to make it adhere closely to the target object, then further topology cleanup is required. (There are polygons that go inside.)
Also, Shrinkwarp does not distinguish between the inside and outside of a polygon.
I did nort mean to be so blunt about the basic accusation. I’m doing, as i mentioned this entire workflow for the fist time. I already watched that video.
