Hello Everyone,
I had this in WIP for a while, but finished it up today. I added the hardware, all of it modeled. The pic in WIP was texture only.
All crits and suggestions welcome.

looks good! did you model this after a real cabinet? it looks real nice, and would look even better in a scene
if it’s not modeled after a real one, I, personally, would give it a little shine. and the texture is to…um, repititious, the wood looks the same on every face. jsut some ideas! looks good though!
Looks nice. I’m modeling something similar, but your texturing is a lot better than mine. Did you UV map this? Can you give me some advice?
Yes, it is modeled after a real cabinet (Shape Only). It is a cabinet that I made. The price differential between mahogany or black walnut and poplar dictated that I use poplar and paint the piece. The cabinet I made is painted black (Milk Paint). As for the shine, it is there, but due to the fact that there is nothing else in the scene, nothing reflects.
The hardware is modeled after the hardware that I used on the cabinet. I downloaded some pics from LeeValley.com (thats where I bought the hardware), and used Inkscape to create svg file, import into Blender and create the model.
Yes, I UV mapped. The wood textures were created in WoodWorkshop. Excellent free software available from http://www.spiralgraphics.biz/.
Creating end grain is a bit more work. The end grain was on the table top was created in Gimp by grabbing a rectangular section and rotating it to resemble quarter sawn wood. For the most part, I created one texture that I used for all of the surfaces, just adjusting the UV map layout so that the individual surfaces would not look to similar.
For me, UV mapping was a bit of a challenge when I started using it. Although you can find alot of information on Elysiun, there is no substitute for experimentation.
Hope this has been of some help, and best of luck!
you can give it shine by adding a hdri image to the scene and render it in yafray. You can research this, it’s not hard, it’s adding a “picture” for the world.
