Simple noob question

Ok I know this is a noob question, but I can’t seem to figure this one out

If I have a mesh, can I take a portion of that mesh and create a new object out of it?

The example at hand is a model of a leg, where I took the foot area, duplicated it, and moved it away from the model. From there I fiddled with the duplicated foot to make it into a boot/shoe of sorts. I now want to take this “shoe” and break it off from the original mesh to create an independent mesh/object. Right now, it is still part of the “leg” mesh, even though it isnt connected at all.

Thanks

Make sure all vertices are de-selected. Then select the vertices of the shoe and hit PKEY to separate it into its own object.

Ah thank you very much, this is exactly what I needed
