Simple Noob Rigging Question involving that 180º limit thing

I’m following a Youtube video rigging a book somewhat loosely in part because changes to the version of Blender have made bits here and there unfollowable, and in part because I’m needing to make tweaks anyway. So I think the problem I’m having is with that ±180º limit for following rotations. I have a single control for the book, I turn it to -90, the book closes to one side, turn it to 0 it lies open on a surface, and turn it to +90 and it closes on the other side. That’s what should happen. On one side, it works great. On the other side, when it reaches that last little bit to close, it flips 180 degrees. Surely there must be some easy way to reset the range. I can get it to do it on the other side too, but I have move the controller way past where I need it to go, so no problem there. I’ll post pictures:

Closing on the other side: Great/uploads/default/original/4X/1/c/c/1cc750f952838b9494c104d01faab2aada26f9bc.pngstc=1
Closed on the other side: WHOOPS!

I would insert more screenshots of the parenting and whatnot, but it’s a three shot limit. Any ideas on how to shift the range so it still behaves correctly and no longer has the weird flip? Thanks!

Try changing the rotation mode from Euler to Quaternion (N-panel --> Transform --> Rotation Mode).
If your problem was caused by ‘Gimbal Lock’ (with Euler), this now should not be a problem anymore.
