Hi everybody, I just wanted to ask whether there is a plugin available that enables some kind of simple speech recognition. I ask cause I use a din A4 tablet and with that and a keyboard my table is pretty much overloaded So what I was looking for was a simple plugin that recognizes letters and numbers (eg. you say e 5 and it will extrude the selection for 5 units (just like the keyboard would)).
If this isnât available already I wonder whether it would be possible for a newbie to python (me) to create such a plugin as my first project? I mean you basically just have to link a speech recognition engineâs output directly into the keyboard input of blender,no?
Thank you for reading,
kiriri
EDIT: I made some research and both Windows XP (and further) and Linux have engines for this
have you used windos speech recognition? yes you can tell it âpress 5â and it will press 5 kust like the keyboard did regardless of the aplication. you can even tell it to nover the curor X number of pixils up, down, left or right. fot multiple keys at the same time you say press control, alt, or shift plus the other key. you dont need a blender plugin since speach recognition is os level.
but i think useing speach recognition will be so slow and cause so many errors youâll end up getting a new table or making room on that crosded table. If just confirmed it, yes it windows speech recognition works with blender, and yes it is much slower.
by the way if you have windows you have speach recognition. start, all programs, accesories, ease of access, windows speach recognition.
well, I wouldnât want to wait forever for it to recognize my voice so I wonder why that is(?). are there any open source variants of this tool so that I could maybe downgrade them (to a degree that they would only be able to recognize the alphabet and no whole words )? Or am I mistaken by my conclusion that that is why it takes so long?
