Hi
I need a tool that will convert for me with simple one click files from bmp or any other format to icon.
Can any one recomand on this kind of tool or where can I find it?

you can use the gimp to do it too, just save any image as ICO to make your icon…
it even works with 32 bit color’s, and alph masking.
to make multilayer Icons for the diffrent sizes, just add new layers, for the new icon size.
The common sizes are, 16, 24, 32,and 48, do that in 8 bit color, 16 bit color, and 32 bit color for a proper icon 
if you are doing cross platform, just save as .png for linux and mac 
Actually, Linux will support .svg as well, so if you use Linux I would do that. That way, you don’t need to do multiple sizes.

You can draw Icons by pixel or import images resized automatically.
Freeware or $10 pro version.
