Simulated Destruction

I’m using Blender to make the visual effects for a short movie I’m making. I want to have a scene where a helicopter shoots a building, with a shot from the inside showing the windows being shot out and the blinds being torn apart. Would this be possible to realistically simulate using Blender’s particle system and soft body simulation methods?

The new rigid body bullet physics would do a great job! make sure you get the latest blenderversion available though :wink:

Is there an easy way to set up the simulated tearing and fracturing of meshes, or would I have to split up the meshes myself?

Take a look at my tutorials (in my sig) for fracturing stuff. Tearing I haven’t done yet, but I think it might be possible.
