single sided polys?

any chance to get polys rendered single sided? this is, they appear in the rendering only if the normals don’t face away from the camera.

i actually want to use the cell-shading trick with an inverted mesh to get better results then with the internal toon-edge. i recently tried this trick in max5, and it looked great. and it was about ten times faster then using the ink’n’paint material!

maybe this trick could be implemented in blender as a replacement for toon-edge? during render-time, a copy of the mesh is generated and normals are being inverted?

however my main problem is to get single sided polys in blender, i hope i miss something, but so far i didn’t manage.

it isn’t really possible
