ShortK
Congrats guys, it must feel really rewarding to have the guys at the BF checking out your work so far.
Looked pretty good for a pre-alpha!
My favourite comment from the video: “So you did this using Blenders internal engine!?”
Hello, just a small comment:
In your blog post http://sintelgame.org/2010/07/sintel-model/ you mention you are using textures from CGtextures.com. At the same time you are also using open source assets from the Durian project and plan to release the assets under an open source license. The problem is that CGtextures.com license is not compatible with open source licenses. To quote their license page:
It is NOT permitted to:
…
- Release the Textures or derivative products under Open Source Licences
From http://www.cgtextures.com/content.php?action=license
Using assets from both licenses and combining them doesn’t seem to be the best thing to do.
Regards,
Lamoot
Yeah Lamoot, we realized this shortly after we got the cgtextures. Most of the textures are placeholder, and only a few of them are from cgtextures. We’ll make sure all of the un permitted textures are replaced before the end of the project.
Hey guys, long time no post.
We’ve been working on the more technical side of things recently which is good for the final game but doesn’t give us much to show off.
So we created a benchmark. A benchmark is a good way to find out the limitations of our target audience.
Make sure you:
- Read all the instructions before running the test!
- Know that in the 2.49 version, Sintel is inverted.
- Email the log file (as an attachment) to benchmark@sintelgame.org
Thanks guys!
Awesome
Work ‘behind the scenes’ would have to be the most rewarding really, even if you cant show much (if anything) for it, youll get the results in the long term.
Looking forward to seeing more developments soon though
i checked box it says bad magic number…nothing after that.
It’s working just fine. Love the animations, even if a few needs a little polishing. When I saw that you had included strafing movement included I became excited, when can we see a real fighting scene video? Loved to! Or try it.
Keep up the extremely good work!
interesting.
So, the movie will have it’s premiere in 5 days. How about the game, ready to lanch it soon?
Would be nice to at least see an update.
The Website has been down for quite some time, I think it may have died.
EDIT: Nevermind, its just sintelgame.com that’s down - sintelgame.org is still there.
Thanks for pointing that out The Red Hand, I’ve sorted it out, should be working again in a few hours.
How come everyone thinks we give up so easy? This time of year is always busy for me, and some of the team members are also tied up with personal things. There is however an update coming soon. We’ve been doing a lot of dynamic loading tests to find the best use of it in our game. This kind of stuff is progress, but not very pretty to show off. I also want to make the website itself look a little better. That will most likely be updated with the next post.
Thanks for telling us about sintelgame.com not working. (I always use .org) The problem has been fixed and it should work again soon (takes time to refresh).
So yea, not dead. update soon.
We think that just because everyone else who have tried to make a game on here pretty much gives up, just the way we view things, but I’m glad to see you guys haven’t givin up, as a guess when do you think your game might be finished? And I totally understand you being busy.
Well, looking forward to your next update.
Inferno
Looks amazing!
Are you guys going to release any tutorials? Because I would LOVE to see a character texturing tutorial. Sintel looks AMAZING!
There is a possibility of us releasing tutorials, or something similar. We don’t have anything planned as of right now, but that could change.
Hey Jonnyman - I PM’ed you.
Wow…interesting games.
