Let me start with a brief introduction.
I am a student who has been using Blender for three years. In that time I have a lot of small projects and tests but ultimately nothing to show for it. That is why I have decided to put my spare time to good use. I am going to make six simple games in six weeks.
Now to move onto Week Two!
This week I’ve decided to try for a much simpler tactical, 3rd person type game.
You have four slots to fill up with soldiers (cube shaped) each with a different style of play. You are in charge of a mission to kill a commander (cube) by infiltrating a military compound and taking out the guards (cubes, also)
My aim is to get gameplay before graphics so when I have the game up, please don’t judge it based on screenshots.
Gameplay:
This shall be a small, squad based RTS. Using a Keyboard controlled cursor you can place up to ten flags for each of your characters to follow. You are able to have four characters at one time, each individually controlled, each having their own set of flags.
Characters will shoot at passing enemies automatically when in High awareness mode, alerting them immediately to your presence.
When one of your four characters dies they are out of the game and do not respawn, so use them wisely.
Each has two weapons, knowing when to use them is key.
Units/classes:
–Sniper
Weapons: Sniper rifle and Drone turret
Features: Must go prone to fire, speedy. The drone turret will draw fire and act as a secondary sniper, one time only.
–Rocketman
Weapons: Anti-everything missile launcher, mine
Features: When prone, missiles home.
–Close quarters combat specialist
Weapons: Shotgun, sword
Features: The sword is a one hit kill but has a short range, while the shotgun has a longer range but less damage
–Minigunner
Weapons: Dual miniguns
Features: Prone mode increases rate of fire and damage
–Mechanic
Weapons: Build wall, air strike, invisibility
Features: No combat ability what-so-ever but cannot be seen by guards. If the mechanic is the last man on your field, he dies.
Week One
I had an interesting idea a while ago called LAG WARS. This was designed to make it have as slow a frame rate as possible, with you fighting off all enemies in order to increase frame rate. My attempt at that failed but my original project is more or less finished.
Attached are some screenshots from this total of six hour game and here is the blend .zip file (open menu first)
