Size of CG images for the big screen?

Just curious
Can anyone tell me what sizes and resolutions are used when frames are rendered for CG movies intended for theaters?

I read that ILM and Pixar render frames at 4000 ppi…

You should be looking at either 2K or 4K. That is, 2000 or 4000 pixels wide (and proportionally heigh). Normally 2K is said to be enough, but if you need the highest quality, go for 4K.
