sketchup free on google - pass it along

For those of you who haven’t seen the post at cgtalk, google has acquired and is offering a free version of a program called sketchup.

It’s a super simple architecure focused modelling program, absolutely must get stuff, find out more at :

Wow, thanks for the link. This is will be handy to design that new deck I’m building.

Their video tutorials are really good. By the way, it works similar to blender, in the way you nagivate the space. Orbiting, scroll wheel. Depending on more people using this software, perhaps some ideas could be integrated into blender to make it more fun to use too.

I was going to suggest that some of the simpler features offered in Sketchup be available in Blender. In fact, I was going to go so far as to say that there should be a Sketchup add-in that would allow you to turn on Sketchup features, then turn them back off after you’ve used them to get a good base model.

I could see some of the features contradicting Blender features, but that is why it would be nice to see it as a plug-in which you could turn off and on again.

Just a thought, since Sketchup is simple for some of the more basic features it offers. If someone out there is great at programming, they might take this to heart and try to develope something similar for Blender.
