I"m not really a “modeler”, but I’ve come up with idea that (I think) could be used to rig the skin in a “better way”.
Instead of using skeleton bones to deform mesh, using IK form extra bones looking at each other in order to define stretching areas on mesh. See attached file for details (quick test made in blender 2.49).
Is it a well known technique/have I reinvented the wheel?
