Skin shader test

Hi, used nodes and SSS to get the effect, still a work in progress. And yes I know the texture is poor. One spot light, moved to show that it works in multiple directions. Anyone willing to donate a better textured head (prefrably with ears) that I could test the shader on? I really don’t want to make another head seeing as I am working on a test animation for my short.

I think the lighting should be stronger, everythings a bit dark

yes realy, lighting is the most important thing! allways! id like to try out your shader with my lighting if you wouldent mind…

Edit: you could try one of my old models:

Tried a different model I got from zbrushcentral.

Well, there’s good news and bad news. It looks a lot like it’s modeled out of the brown wax we used in bronze sculpture class to make the molds. The good news is that wax has sub surface scattering, so you’re making progress. The bad news is it looks like wax rather than skin. Maybe it’s the specularity? which in wax is fairly uniform. I really don’t have a clue. Hope you figure it out.

It’s too specular, it’s too dark, and there’s too much red (at least in the first image).

Yeah, i see too much spec. Are you using the normals on color ramps to get the effect? Anyway, its looking pretty good…

I think you oughta try rendering it with some ao and turn the spec down just a touch

the spec it a lot on the second one granted, but I think the first one is a lot better.

Check out the Shader I used on Tony, My Gangster. It uses only color ramps, based lightly on the one used in ED

wow, been a while been tweaking. Vat do you tink? No SSS, and the bump and spec are not mapped with textures. vid

looks fine to me. Holds up in all lighting situations(ive seen the focused crit pics too).
Looks fine to me…

spankyou kindly

why zat tiz exactly vat I plan to do…
A little svat svat, yes?
