Has anyone seen anything in Blender which could help automate the creation of slot together structures like this?

It seems like most of these are modelled with Grasshopper in Rhino at the moment. It would be great to be able to convert a mesh to its component flat shapes in Blender, and export it as a format suitable for laser cutting.
Any help would be really appreciated.
