slow animation (physics baked to ipos)

Hi,

I have made a simple scene to test the blender physics and rigid bodies. In the F4 panel I have activated Actor, Dynamic, Rigid Body and the appropriate Bounds for the interacting objects. When hitting ‘P’ the animation looks quite fine. Then I go to Game -> record game physics to IPO and bake to ipos. When I render the so produced animation it runs very slow and is looking unnatural. You may see the avi here (about 10 MB).

Can you help me to understand why is this happening?

Regards,
Peter

What is the number of objects. From what i know, the GE to Animation can only handle so much.

Hm, there are 63 bricks and a ball that hits them and destroys part of the ‘wall’…
But I noticed the same behaviour with a smaller scene with only several objects…
Any help will be greatly appreciated!

P.S. I see that every frame is being keyed. Is thee a need, and a way to clean up the IPO curves? (I know I can edit them manually, but that wold be nearly impossible for so much frames)

I’m not much for animations, but maybe it is a problem with your computer, how old is it, because i rendered an animation on my school computer(they pretty much have no Graphics card)and it played very slowly.

When you bake the sim to ipo make sure you have ‘Enable all frames’ checked. Also because the game engine runs at 60 fps and blender renders at 25 fps you’ll have to go to the nla editor and scale everything down by 25/60, so thats 0.41666666… Then just render it out and it will play at the correct speed.

Many thanks hunter551! That should be it! I didn’t have ‘Enable all frames’ checked and I didn’t knew about this difference in the framerates… I will make it again today. Thank you very much!!!

Hi all
How can I slow down an animation to simulate the action of an Excavator hydraulic cyliner moving the bucket and lower arm, the articulated arms and bucket move very slow but other movements, like the catapilar tracks and cabin rotation are quite rapid.
thanks
Roger

This has nothing to do with his Q but Can I scale in the NLA with numbers like .41 insteed of using the mouse?
