Slow going

I don’t know why, but suddenly blender is getting REALLY slow. Everything was working allright, but then my brother got a new graphics card, and then I got Blender 2.27, and all the versions of blender are getting really really slow. Is it the graphics card? Or is it the new version of blender?

okay, blender should work with any good graphics card, right? This new one is an Xtasy made by “Vision Tek, Powered by ATi Graphics” Is this affecting blender at all? Should a graphics card affect blender? Doesn’t blender use OpenGL?

…I think that’s enough questions. See if you can help.

Muchas Gracias,

okay just for the sake of others i will tell a way to fix this. we already fixed mr.a’s prob on the irc. the graphics card is most likely built for gaming and most games are direct x. so that means the card is built mostly for direct x programs and blender used opengl (which is bad for blender). to fix this you can reduce the impact the graphics card has on your pc and blender should be back to norm. and you should update all drivers for any opengl drivers. i think you should do the latter first. just go into settings search for any new drivers. if there arn’t then find something that will turn down it’s use
