Slow performance when zooming in on reference images.

I often model from reference images however I noticed whenever I try to get closer to the image to work out the fine detail blender becomes very slow and almost unusable. It runs fine with a back ground image at normal focus just zooming in causes a massive decrease in speed. I was wondering if anyone else has ever had a similar problem.

That actually could be your computer. Not blender.

I think your right, my much older desktop handles background images fine. It might be something with my drivers.

If your RAM memory is low (like under 4GBs) that will defiantly make blender slow. I have 2GBs of RAM. I’m surprised that blender is even running.

Nah it has around 4GBs of RAM, blender actually runs fine on both computers as far as basic modeling goes (slow on simulations, smoke and fluid). It’s just the background images in the on the laptop run slow, which is weird since it has 3.5GBs more ram. I wonder if there’s some drawing setting or I could change to fix it, or if it has something to do with the image format.

well i got intel chipset G31/G33 and have same problem
when zooming in close with background image blender slow down so much at high zoom factor

i mean i have to Rotate my view to get rid of the background image then blender goes faster!

anything agaisnt that slowdown motion in blender ?

thanks
