Everytime i render with a 6x subsurface modifier, my pc crashes, so is there any way to make the renders take their time and use less power to not just out right kill my pc?
Why do you need so many subdivisions ?
Render separate components in your scene and composite them is post production.
A subdivision level of 6 is madness. Just remember that every level of subsurf will quadruple the number of polygons.
So, let’s say you start with moderate 10,000 “real” polygons: At subsurf level 6 you end up with 10,000 *4 *4 *4 *4 *4 *4 = 40,960,000 polygons.
Of course your memory consumption will go through the roof, then…
its one object with 4130 verts when in 0 sub. so its not posible to make the render slower?
Blender most likely crashes because it runs out of memory. Making it slower would not help - the scene has to fit into the RAM either way… Use a lower number of subdivisions. Once again: Why level 6? That’s incredibly high!
