When I use a background image in a view, Blender has a dramatic slowdown. I’m using 2.45, WinXP, HP dc7700p. The slowdown is so dramatic it makes Retopo unusable and other operations a test of patience. Anyone else experience this?

Some people experience dramatic slowdowns with ATI graphics cards. Maybe this is the problem? If you have an ATI, try searching the forum for other threads on the subject.
