Small 2.34 problems (And now BIGGER problem too)

Well, I seem to be having some slight problems with 2.34.

Everytime I open blender, my header (where the file and such menus are) is missing. If I resize my window, it suddenly appears, but when I restart blender, its gone again.

Also, everytime I open it, I get “ERROR: File “Blanguages” not found”

Not important, but kinda annoying. Anyone now why it’s happening?

PS Win XP Home edition

Thanks

EDIT BIGGER PROBLEM
With I use Yafray with XML on, and set GI method to Full and select any quality other than none to make it work, I get message “yafray.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.”

If I turn XML off, I get “blender.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.”

Should this be directed to Yafray support?

Which OS are you using and are you using the latest Yafray? About the interfcase I suggest you adjust it manualy to the way you want it to look when started then do File->Save default settings.

the two problems are one and the same [solving one will solve the other]

however, I forget where .Blanguages is [whenever I built 2.34 from cvs I didn’t end up building it], or should be

In a “regular” installation there is a “.blender” direcory in the directory where the blender.exe is. In there in not only language support but also some nice self registering python scripts. Some of them i think are needed for new online help functionality.

btw official 2.34 is out !

Fakeplastic - It works here.

Maybe you need to completely remove your Yafray installation
just to RE-install Yafray 0.07 again. Remember to delete the
directory and THEN install the new Yafray.

Maybe it’ll work.

Anyway…yafray worked in all cases you presented
over here, I just tested it.

Same yafray problem here

I am using the official 2.34 version, installed from the windows installer, which was installed after I uninstalled the previous version, with the official yafray 0.0.7, which I installed after removing (uninstalling) version 0.0.6.

I am at work now, so I will try it here too.

I will experminent more at home later.

But I was able to reproduce the error with yafray with those settings.

It could’ve been uninstalling the previous version that caused it. There would’ve been no need to uninstall it because it would likely replace it anyway.

No, you have to completely uninstal previous versions of yafray for 0.0.7 to instal and work properly with Blender.

Martin

Check for a .blender folder in either the install directory of blender or in the Document and Settings\ … \ Application Data… . If it’s not there then i suggest you completely uninstall blender and reinstall again.

No, you have to completely uninstal previous versions of yafray for 0.0.7 to instal and work properly with Blender.

Martin[/quote]

That’s what I did, I uninstalled the old yafray, then installed the new one.

Well, I tested it at work, using Win XPpro on a 2.5GHz p4 with 1G ram,
and a radeon r9000 (which uses an older driver- never had a problem with blender before) AND I still have all these problems.

I tried saving the user settings, but still, everytime I open it, my file menu is gone, and I get the blanguages error.

And I also still have problems with yafray.

Maybe I am trying to do something illegal. But this is what I am doing:
Open blender with default scene (a cube), pick Yafray render, go to Yafray GI tab, select Full under method, select any quality setting, such as low, turn on cache and photons, and render, and I get the error, every time.

Is there something I am doing that would cause this?

Thanks for all your help

Hey, thanks. I looked there, found the Blanguages file, and copied it to my blender install directory, and now I don’t get that message.

Also, it seems to have fixed the file menu disappearing problem.

This may be because I chose the application folder option when doing the install. So it may be a problem with the windows setup executable.

About the yafray problem, if I use an older example file and it seemed to work. I am going to do some more testing and see if I can figure out what I am doing wrong.

I have problem with new yafray too, but only when I want render with plugin (xml in off) I get segfault. When I render in yafray (xml is on) everything is ok. I’m working on Slackware 10.0, X.org, fglrx-3.11.1

Hi!

Same problem with linux (SuSe 9.1), Yafray rendering crashes Blender.

From ‘blender -d’ (debug log):
. . .
Starting scene conversion.
Scene conversion done.
Loading plugins …
YafRay plugin loaded
Image allocated
Segmentation fault

Any solution to this yet? I got the latest Blender and Yafray…

Well, my problem seems to be a problem in exporting to yafray. It happens both with XML on and off.

I was able to get the xml file that is generated by Blender when I try to render to yafray. This crashed yafray, and blender if XML is off. I also tried running it through command line to yafray and it still crashed.

Does anything look wrong here?

This is straight out of blender - no editing

Yes I have the same problem on both my Fedora boxes. Nvidia graphics cards.

Hi.

Blender and Yafray work ok with MacOSX 10.3.4.

The same scenes fail with Linux. Something wrong with Yafray’s linux port?

I’ve had the (first, small) problem for ages on my work computer (SunBlade 2000), I guessed it to be a missing file or something, since resize fixes it I have got used to it.
