Smoke and Embers made with particles


Dear blenderanians,

Seeing the smoke and embers blowing around at the end credits of the 2011 remake of Conan, got me wanting to make a fiery night sky myself.

I used particles for both the smoke and embers.

The ground glow was made with spotlight haloes.

Embers, smoke and ground glow scenes were combined in the compositor.

Alas, I wasn’t able to make thick roiling smoke clouds nor get the embers to illuminate nearby smoke (as is seen in the movie).

This is a 100% Blender internal image and took just over 1 and a 1/4 hours to render using 2.64a.
