Smoke does not render

I’ve added an object that should emit smoke so I selected it and used the “quick smoke” functionality to setup the smoke.
I am using cycles and checked that Blender has created a material for the smoke with volume absorption and volume scatter. This is all done fine.

When I play the animation in my 3d viewport I do see the smoke correctly however when I render the scene I don’t see the smoke…

I have plenty of light in my scene as all other objects are showing good.

I tried baking the smoke but that didn’t help…

Anybody has any tips on how to troubleshoot this?

I see no .blend file supplied with your post !!
I see no indication of blender version, operating system, graphics card info etc etc

I’ve added a scene. It’s not the original one but one created from scratch and it’s the same…

I’m using blender 2.74 and have tested both on GPU (GTX 880m) and CPU rendering but can’t seem to get the smoke appear…

Smoke doesn’t render on the GPU…
Here’s the result of a CPU render of your file:

Seems all right to me?

Ah right… No GPU support. That’s going to be slow pff…

I also have the same problem. I have a personal laptop. Is graphics card play a role in blender output ? I get no smoke in render screen.
