Smoke Domain Material, Emission around smoke in large blocks

I am learning how to do explosion effects and have gotten stuck on a material issue. I have what I think is standard material setup for a smoke and fire explosion material but am on a second time around where the material is not looking the way it did first time. I have no idea as to what is causing it to happen. Any help would be appreciated.

I found a solution to this with some more looking around , I have tried a few variations that all work with different effects. the problem was trying to control the emission strength without a math / multiply node.
