Hi, I’m trying to set a scene where the smoke has to start on frame 243.
I set the particles system starting frame to 243, the baking starting frame to 243, but after I baked the simulation the smoke starts on frame 1.
What could be the problem?
Wild guess - there is also a frame range on the physics panel for the domain object. I’m not sure exactly what that’s for, but it seems to default to 1-250. Might want to try changing something there.
I changed these settings, and it still doesn’t work. Thanks anyway.
Any other suggestions?
Hmm I’m not sure why does it not work…
For me it worked fine when I tested this, maybe post your blend file?
Changing the baking range in the domain object’s “smoke cache” settings start frame to 243 and hitting “bake” should do the trick, doesn’t matter if there are particles emitted or not before that.
I just tested changing the frame range in the bake panel and it works in version 2.65. I can make the smoke start on frame 50 and end on 100. However, I am using “Mesh” as the “Flow Source” and not “Particles” (on the Physics panel for the smoke “Flow” object.) That might be the difference. If you haven’t tried v2.65, its worth it for the new smoke and fire updates. Unless you have some other reason to base the smoke on particles, try Mesh instead. It seems to work ‘right out of the box’.
I managed to solve the problem - it was in the voxel data texture of the domain object.
Thanks for all the comments anyways
