Smoke Simulator Finally Makes Something Photorealistic

Hello everyone!
I am proud to show you some of the pretty impressive results I just got with blenders smoke simulator!

Tell me I’m not the only one who thought blenders smoke simulator was junk. If I was, my opinion has changed
If you wanted to know the secrets :wink: I have also made a tutorial for you guys Here

This is explosive man!

@like thanks man

Here is a reworking of our favorite sci fi spaceship explosion :stuck_out_tongue:

another render

Tell me what you guys think

Looks great.

Thanks BigBlend! Working on a couple more renders

Wow, impressive!

What are the render times, plus what resolution is that smoke? Looks like a really long render time.

That is all the renders for this simulation. The render time is ridiculous so the animation(which is in the tutorial) is kind of low quality.

@unyxium The render times are insane. For a 2K render with 32 samples it took 8 hours. As far as smoke resolution I went with 256 divisions + 1 highrez. If you go with more then one highrez it seems to get really bad artifacts.

Not an expert but I don’t think smoke in space behaves same as on earth.

You should see all the movies where huge buildings collapse before World Trade Center attack. We have a pretty bad concept how things look like before we see it in real life.

Also it’s more important that it looks cool than correct. Elon Musk said if it looks fake and bad then it’s probably real. No one would spend money on something to create something real to look bad.

haven’t you learned anything from movies? Stuff always explodes into a giant puf ball in space… and every where else
