smooth out noise map

hi

i am using the noise node to create the structured surface of the ground plane. unfortunately the noise is, depending on the view, good or very distracting.

anybody knows of a trick to smooth out the noise within blender with yafray?? it is anyway very grainy.

How about using a cloud texture that has a very small size. Then the closer you get, the less noisy it should be.

Edit:

Or, if the render doesn’t take too long, render it several times and blend them back together. Rendering larger and shrinking it should have the same effect, but you might lose some sharpness.

Personally think it’d be easiest to just create a new image in photoshop/gimp, use a noise filter to fill it, then use some blur and setting contrast to get it exactly how smooth you want.

Well, is there a blur node? If there is, link that up and blur the noise a tad. Does that work?

well there is not noise node yet in yafray.

i am quite curious when they release the node system
how fast it will take that this might also work with yafray.

i tried out the cloud map but the issue is still the same.
i need a fine grain pattern, but which is slightly smoothed.

How about marble?

Surely that should solve it? It is fine grain at a distance, if you set the size small enough, but will be slightly blurred. Just set the depth as low as it goes (0 or 1).

Dude… you are seriously going to start smoking after this project. Hell, it make me want a ciggarette!!

But… nice work!
