Snap part of mesh

Hi,

I need an easy way how to snap a part of a mesh to another part of same mesh.
See attached image. I want to position the activated circle to the middle of the square or to the middle of one edge of the square.
I tried the snap tool but I cannot find how to snap to the middle of the square or to the middle of an edge of the square.
The Shift-S Selection to cursor neither works because all vertices of the circle are merged to the 3D cursor position and then I don’t have the circle anymore.

Any idea?

Thanks a lot!

shift S is the way to go i would select all the 4 corner verts do a shift s cursor to selected.

then select your ring of verts and shift s selection to cursor

Hi stvdysn,

as I described already that won’t work because all vertices of the ring are MERGED to only one center point!

Any further ideas?

can you upload your blend to i can experiment with it.

You can always make a sacrificial point to use as a target for snapping

nice on richard that defo works, good little tut thats something i never thought of.

Hi Richard,

thanks for reply, yes that works, but anyway it’s just a workaround.
I expect something like snap to 3D cursor as additional option for active, center, median and closest of the snap tool.

Until this option does not exist I will go our way Richard, thanks!
