BUT his LOX the goblin image got into raph.com…which is weird…since it never made the front page of cgtalk…anyway
there is only 2 options
-the admins simply don,t like the image
-they don,t want to put a “free-made” image up there…
in both case I don,t understand since most of the reply in the thread are saying to put it up there…

yeah he did! snog got front page, i havtn looked at cg talk in a bit, so its prolly not up there now. but i swear on my life snog was front page!!!

Front page just means it has a thumbnail on the front page for a few days until it gets bumped off by other work.
I don’t know why everyone keeps bitching about this and making claims like, “It’s b/c bender is free!!1!” Fact is, the admins just didn’t like it, even though it is a great image. Maybe they didn’t like the style, but it doesn’t matter. The world won’t end, but I’m sure 15 more people will post about it in that thread at CGtalk.
I think it’s a great image, but because of people demanding it like this, if it does get front page it’s going to look like they did it just to avoid a flame war.
It got four stars, isn’t that enough?
to tell the truth, it isn’t perfect, and some of those images are better, but its pretty good. I think it could get to the front page, but more because of blender, but that would demean the artist’s skill.
I recieved a message back from the moderator I plugged it to, but the moderator didn’t think it good enough for the front page. Also the application bears no influence on the choice of the artwork for the front page and subsequent choice gallery.
It’s a shame that there isn’t more influence by the members about an image, rather than it just being up to the mod’s discression.
Still it may yet make front page.

just look at cgtalk forums. there is lot great art presented there that doesn’t go to the frontpage.
and if you don’t like the site, and you don’t like the choices they make, stop visiting there, and stop whining how blender works never get to front page.
p.s. the comments on the threads like “FRONTPAGE FRONTPAGE!” “WTF WHY NOT FRONTPAGE?” “THEY DISLIKE US BLENDER USERS!” doesn’t really help you know.

i dont think my image is good enough for the frontpage. whether blender is being ‘discriminated’ or not, it depends mostly on our own attitude.
so please… forget about the frontpage or cgtalk or what the [duh]proffessional world[/duh] thinks.

still a good image, but it doesnt mean you have to trip over about it(on it)
bottom line is this:
blender is open source, therefore it is free.
it is mainly for people who want 3d graphics as a hobby
you dont see colleges or a billion (literally) tutorials out there teaching people how to use blender, so it is more rare to find someone that is really good with the program than say, 3dsmax.
blender is very good quality, its just lack of awareness is present in this world…but i know that the blender foundation is certainly improving that well, and i commened them for it.
if blender was so so so common like 3dsm or maya, then im sure that other people would not critisize us as much…
also, they think free means lesser quality, and which they are completely wrong.

m=My post was primarily directed at the fact that everyone thinks that “bigshot 3d” people think that blender users suck, and that blender users don’t get enough credit because of the program that they use, but really, the case is just the quality of the render that turns out, like you just stated.
No, they think the interface of Blender sucks and so they never learn to use it properly, nor do they learn it’s features. Still, all of which doesn’t pertain to this thread at all. They don’t think Blender users suck or are stupid at all, read the thread at CGTalk.

In my opinion:
I think we’re trying to market Blender a little bit too hard in CGTalk.
First, someone makes a great picture with Blender. Then someone asks “What software did you use?” and the answer is probably like: “BLENDER, OF COURSE! YEAH! AND IT’S TOTALLY FREE! IT CAN DO ALL THE TRICKS AN EXPENSIVE COMMERCIAL PROGRAM CAN DO! AND IT’S FREE SOFTWARE!”
It makes us look a little bit like crazy fanatics and scares people away. %|
If I was a non-Blender-user, I’d like more answers like “I think he made it with Blender.” Then I’d think “Blender? Really? I didn’t know that you can do that in Blender. Wow, I’m impressed!” :o
