Hey Guys! I recently started with Blender a few Weeks ago and just try to achieve a decent looking Terrain Render.
So far im pretty satisfied with most of it, but there are some things left to do - and probably more, based on your possible advice ![]()

Subsurface Scattering for the Snow , theres currently none as it would have killed my Render Time. Currently 25 Minutes on a Ryzen 1700 CPU-Only Render with 220 PT Samples. Couldnt use CUDA as i only have 3 GB VRAM and the Scene uses up to 15,5 GB in Render. I already denoised the Image in PS as even with 220 Samples the Snow gets super noisy in the shadows.

The Cliff on the Left doesnt look good to me. Id love to do some Sculpting there but currently i cant, as i use an 8k-heightmap for a displacement modifier ( that would be about 64.000.000 Vertexes for the Mesh if i want to use the maximum ammount of Detail the Map offers - what i actually do for the Render
) , followed by a subsurf modifier for the Render. If id apply the Modifier so i could do some sculpting, i wouldnt get back the possible Detail for the Render, as i need to stay in a reasonable poly count range for sculpting. If anyone knows a decent workaround for this issue, let me know it

Probably changing Sun Direction so the foreground isnt that dark anymore.

Adding a focus subject at the end of the footsteps path, currently thinking of a Tent which is lighted up from the Inside - to give some warm color contrast.
The Heightmap was done in World Machine & Photoshop to smooth out the Foreground and add the Footsteps (yes, done them right in the heightmap as i need to conserve memory right now, was quite a painβ¦) - the Material itsself and the minor displacements for the snow & rocks are fully procedural, so i can still fix possible issues here if u have some advice left for me! ![]()
