I’m doing an archviz personal project, but I’m running into a problem: noise to the point of artifacts in the denoiser… at 4096 samples!
The room is lit almost entirely by indirect light. I’ve already replaced windows with lamps for higher order bounces (anything over direct diffuse). Any suggestions for optimizing the scene or reducing the noise to something usable?

Share the scene if you want specific solutions. Otherwise I’d say you just need to get more light in there. It feels like your lamps are far away through small openings. Don’t be afraid to cheat and put some area lights etc. right in there. You can dim things back down in post if you really want the dark look.
Here’s the Blend. Maybe putting some area lights facing away from the wall to simulate the direct light will help…?
I played with it for a half hour or so but wasn’t able to figure much out. It’s a complex scene with complex materials. The light just doesn’t seem to be getting in there, and it seems like there may be multiple issues. If I make a default override material on the view layer then the image turns almost pure white, so material issues may be a factor.
Maybe someone with more experience than I can take a look.
It might be turning pure white because the exposure’s set all the way up at 2.5.
I’ll take a look at the materials, but everything has an albedo between 0.03 and 0.8 (raw). Is this the wrong range of albedo values, or…
I should also probably just use an image-based material for the walls, since the detail is so subtle anyways (no sense adding all that compute time per sample per bounce…)
