Soft body ropes attached to armature

Hello
I’m sure lots of people must have done this before but I just can’t figure it out…
Is there any way of pinning a soft body rope or pipe on either end to armatures, so it will hang between the two? For example, a crane, with a cable joined at the near the end of the arm, and near the base.
I’ve tried every combination of parenting , vertex parenting, tracking and location contraints, but still can’t get it to work!
If you can suggest an alternative to using soft body that might help too, but I’d like it to swing a bit when the arm moves.

Add a Curve and use another CurveCircle as BevOb to make your rope. On the Curve select the CV’s of either end in Edit mode, hit W >> Set Goal Weight to 1.000. Add Softbody.

Thanks… nearly there. Setting the goal weight of the end CVs stops the ends from moving and the rope looks good. But how do I make the end CVs follow different bones of the armature?

Add a Hook to each of them (with Empty) and Parent the Empty to a Bone (select Empty, Shft-Select Armature, goto Pose mode and select Bone, Ctrl-P >> To Active Object).
