softbodies deflection soft body forces note physics softbody

Just a note to the weary searcher:

It took me about a half hour to figure this out.

  1. Make sure your softbody object, and your deflector object are on the same layer, or the calculations will not work.

  2. You cannot have two soft bodies collide. One object must be a regular object.

  3. Bake in your softbodies. If you know what RVK’s are, then you’ll have an idea of what baking will do, if not, go ahead and watch it calculate every time you try to see it work. Get a cup of coffee… NO, Bake!

  4. You can apply the softbody, so it will become the shape of whatever frame it is, by going from the physics, to the objects button, and then clicking the editing button (F9), find the modifier tab, and press “apply”. Be warned, however, that you will lose all the calculations, and actual flow animations will no longer be possible with this object.

Thanks for the heads up
