softbody collision / deflection


I created a ‘rope’ using a bezier curve and adding a bevel, then adding a softbody modifier. The rope is supposed to be used in an animation and, in some way, be hanging over a wall.

For cloths the collision detection & deflection works somewhat decent, but for the rope it pretty much doesn’t work at all. It just goes through the ‘wall’.

I did read that apparently deflection for softbodies isn’t really the most stable thing.

Is there any way to fix that, or maybe another, better way to create & animate a rope?

For soft body to work, you probably need rope made of mesh surface. Try converting the rope made of curve into mesh object.
