ok i really havent decided to use softbodies up until now. i do remeber seeing something about “influence” on the original softbody, and yet on the 2.37 release, i dont see it…
is there a specific place to go to learn hoe to use softbodies properly? (i desire to re-create flubber)
there is a very good video tutorial on softbodies, if you haven’t
allready seen. I guess there is a link to the vidtut in the forum,
but you can find it also here: http://www.ibiblio.org/bvidtute/
for your aim doing flubber stuff i suggest using meta balls
instead of softbodies. but this depends on what you want
to do, i guess.
well, yeah, i would have used metaballs, but i dont remember metaballs being able to jiggle or bounce like jello.
ok. i watched the video. i know that much already. (is tere any way to keep softbidies from going through the object deflecting them at all?) what i would like to learn is how to use softbodies in charachter animation.
unfortunately i can’t tell you the divX version of that
encoding. since i run linux for years i replay it with
mplayer which works pretty well. but i guess for
windows the nimo codepack should do the trick.
concerning the meta balls you are right that they do
not bounce off the floor or something. anyway i did
a small test for a flubber like material using softbodies
which you can get at: http://www.astro.uni-bonn.de/~mkappes/pub/flubber.tgz
it includes a small blend and the resulting mpeg.
well there is a colision detection available in blender
right next to the softbody tab.
but as far as i played with it it is not very good so
that object suffer from leakage…
