Solid Sunbeam (Particle rendering help)

I’m relatively new to Blender; been working in it for 4 months. I’m trying to create a sunbeam effect, where strong light comes in through a window and lights up particles in solid shapes (a bit like the “show cone” option on spots). I’m not very good with particle systems yet, so help me out!

BTW this is in cycles, not BR.
