Hello everyone! I’m having some issues applying the Solidify Modifier to a simple mesh, and I don’t get what I’m doing wrong.
As you can see, I’m trying to give some thickness to the surface, but is not even! Probably I’m not getting how it works, because it seems like a problem in the model that the modifier is not knowing how to resolve.
Try check the even thickness option in the modifier.
I did, but it keeps making the same.
I think it has something to do with the shape, because it is doing something very similar to when you try to inset that face; is not doing it even on the curves as well.
My approach must be wrong for sure. For example, to make an inset of an rectangular shape, is going to do the same. My question is how to make an inset even in a rectangular shape in that case.
Main issue is that your object’s scale is off. Apply your object’s scale.
While in Object Mode select your object and press CTRL+A. Select “Apply Scale”. The thickness of the model should even out.
My object has been scaled on Z.

I applied my object’s scale and now it’s even.

Ohhh the scale! Thank you so much! I don’t understand why is not 1:1:1 by default. But that solved the problem!
When you scale the object in object mode, then it’s scale becomes transformed. Sometimes it’s easier to do this, than doing it in editmode. However, it can mess up somethings with modifiers and also how you model in edit mode… For an example, insetting faces should now be correct after applying the object’s scale.
