SolidSnake Online? Check it out!

Hi everyone,

It took me some time but I managed to get it all together. The website isn’t finished yes obviously and I’m having second thoughts about the web layout and graphics but it’s somewhere to show my work.

Check it out!

I hope you like the new updates on my car.

Any feedback would be extremely welcome.

Thanks

Jon

Nice renders on your site, man. How long have you been using Blender?

dante

I especially like the use of refraction in your “stealth mode” car render.

Thanks guys. Well I’ve been using blender on and off for about five years now. I want to start spending more time with it now though.

I’m glad you like the stealth (Fweeb). I was bit concerned that the scene was too dark for the effect to be appreciated fully. I’ll be sure to make a lighter scene with refraction sometime soon.

Thanks again for your feedback.

Very nice images snake… really, i don’t have anything i would change. Except maybe the website itself. Good luck for the future.

change the title on your page. “Untitled Document” does not make it look more professional… :-? - sorry, but i just get shivers running through my body evertime i see something like that…

nice gallery though…the images aren’t bad to say the least!

That car is awsome. nice job.

How did you get the stealth effect for the car? Also could something like that be done in the RT engine portion of blender?

Sorry for the late reply (Shaba). My computers CPU Cooler broke down.

Thanks for your interest in my work.

I don’t think the ENV mapping in the RT engine is accurate enough to achieve the stealth effect. I guess if you used a pre-rendered ENV map and used it in a scene of very similar colours etc, you could pull off a look of blurred drefraction but it won’t look very convincing.

As for how I did the stealth mode in Render view…I’ll give you a clue. It’s about how you map the ENV map on to your model.

With normal mapping, an ENV map will simply reflect what’s in front of your model. If you map it differently, it can be used to show what’s behind your model instead.

Just experiment with the different ways you map your ENV map.

I hope to publish a tutorial sometime soon explaining exactly how to achieve a prefect stealth effect. I think I’ve discovered a very good solution for this.

Well, good luck with your findings

Jon
