Just downloaded 2.54 Beta r32333 thinking that all those VSE audio issues were solved. But I still cant perform a simple fade in fade out of an audio strip.
I can’t even get a a keyframe in the levels value of the strip. Can anyone make audio keyframes?

Sometimes I get the impression that what characterizes those builds is regression instead of progress. For example, SDL doesn’t work at all anymore with 2.54 svn32333!!!
To my surprise, however, OpenAL now works fine and I was able to achieve an audio cross fade without problems (other than struggling with zooming in/out and navigating in the graph editor -serious loss of usability there IMO).
Will perform more tests with different containers and video/audio codecs to see if this experience with 2-3 clips can be replicated. What’s annoying is that SDL is recommended for sequencer usage.

Well I thought that Audspace was gunna fix all this. I guess I will revert to a build that kind of works. Although it had buggy media handling at least it would perform a cross fade (most of the time).
It seems that it was a problem with my legacy .blend sequence. As I loaded the same clips into a clean timeline and the keyframes returned. So maybe there are old bits of code being called by the old sequence. Gunna have to rebuild the whole video now! Whish there was a more straight forward workaround. At least the new builds seem to work fine with regard to audio keyframes.
UPDATE: After replacing just one offending clip all the rest worked again. So I didnt have to start from scratch.
