I am trying to learn to create custom brushes to add to the TexDraw brush in the top window of the Tool panel.
I know how to bring in my brush and apply the different settings to it. What I don’t know is how to get that new brush into the little window alongside the TexDraw brush.
Not knowing the proper procedure to create a custom brush, I simply kept the original TexDraw default brush, scrolled down to settings, and changed some of the parameters. I also imported (opened, a brush shape texture I doodled in Photoshop). Now that I had a custom brush I tried to find out how to save it.
That was my mistake. There is no way (that I know of) to save the default TexDraw brush once I have made changes to it.
So I reopened the file and then I Clicked on the little document icon to create a duplicate of the TexDraw brush.
This now shows a “TexDraw.001” and I changed the name to something more descriptive to help me remember what the brush does. Directly below are the options to make changes to the brush, including bringing in my own texture, created in a 2D app like Photoshop or Affinity Photo (that is a whole different topic), and setting new stroke parameters and falloff settings.
