[Solved] How to create irregular steps

Hello, i know i to make steps with bevel steps. but what i’m trying to achieve is large irregular steps. like this

i managed somehow to make it rounded, but i want to add more x deepness

There are different approaches.

  1. you can edit the “steps” Pre-set in the Bevel settings to match the steps you want .
  2. You can start with one step, then select the lower edge and “extrude along normals”, making the next step
  3. You can keep the "perfect staircase, and then go into sculpt mode, select the grab brush, make it very large and pull the stairs how large you want. (Yes you don’t always have to use sculpt mode for sculpts. It can be pretty handy for basic modeling too.)

Hope this helps  good luck!

I didn’t really understand the question…

If you want to expand the bevel range, turn off the Clamp setting

You need to do one of these two scalings - X or Y?

Select all. Shift Click twice on one vertex to make it the Active one.
Change the Transform Pivot Point to Active Element.
Scale on X or Y until happy. Click.

Selecting just one or two steps and the same Active point allows you to scale just the selected - if you remember to press s to scale, then Shift-Z to lock the z scale.

If you want to the profile of the stairs to be more complex then best dont do it with bevel steps. Its much easier to model than tweaking all points of the curve.

Here’s a simple demo starting from a mesh curve. Basically its just a couple extrudes insets and bevel.

thanks to you all. but as i don’t want to stop my workflow too long, i simply moved the lower parts along the normals. and even if it’s not perfect (mathematically), it does the job
here’s the stuff so you can understand
here’s the beveled stuff (symetrical)
